Speech Therapist

 Speech therapy is the assessment and treatment of communication
problems and speech disorders. It is performed by speech-language
pathologists (SLPs), which are often referred to as speech therapists.

Position Description

A Speech Pathologist and Audiologist, works with the full range of swallowing and human communication disorders in people of all ages, whose symptoms are the result of illness, accident, disability, acquired disorders or congenital or emotional problems. They assess, diagnose, speech disorders, language, social communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders counsel, to help people communicate effectively.

Speech therapy techniques used include articulation therapy, language intervention activities, and others depending on the type of speech or language disorder.

The hope is that through the treatment provided within speech therapy, people with the conditions like Autism, Cancer (mouth or throat), Cleft palate, Head injury, Hearing loss, Learning disability, Neurological disorders, Stroke, better able to communicate. In turn, this helps to improve social skills and boost both self-esteem and independence.

En Absolute Home Health, our speech pathologists and audiologists are professional are oriented to provide care to adults with any of these disabilities already mentioned previously, being members of the home health care team, providing audiology and speech services in the our client’s home, under the direction of a treatment plan established by a physician. Evaluations are done by peers.
